MEET THE AUTHOR SERIES RETURNS TO IN-PERSON EVENTS!!
Meet Susan Leicher, author of Acts of Atonement
Acts of Atonement is the second book in the tale of Serach Gottesman – headstrong daughter in an Orthodox Jewish family, and Paloma Rodriguez – ambitious daughter of an unsupportive Catholic Latina mother. Against all odds, their relationship has lasted ten years until an unexpected death and experience with the criminal court system test their courage and fidelity. Their personal story plays out against an array of broader social issues involving the way traditional religions and cultures treat those who don’t follow their rules, whether Judaism has its own form of Latino machismo, and what happens when atoning for betrayal affects those we love.
S.W. Leicher grew up in the Bronx in a Latina and Jewish family. After graduate school she raised her family on the Upper West Side of Manhattan and writes about social justice issues for nonprofit organizations. A portion of royalties for the book will be donated to the New York Women’s Foundation’s IGNITE! Program which supports diverse, young, hard-working women.
Buy your copy of his book from Bookshop.org (to support independent bookstores) or amazon.com (remember to use your Amazon Smile account if you have one that supports your local congregation.)
Pre-Paid $15 per person/$20 at the door – A light brunch will be served
