Meet the Author, Lisa Belkin – author of Genealogy of a Murder

On Independence Day weekend in 1960 a young cop is murdered in Stamford, Connecticut.  In this exploration of that crime, the author examines how three immigrant families became entwined – one Irish, one Italian, and one Jewish – and how each of them experienced the American Dream and the obstacles they encountered in pursuing that dream.  This brilliantly researched book explores immigration, religion, prison reform, the nature/nurture debate and even the history of motorcycle racing, as well as the coincidences and choices that led to that one fateful night.

Lisa Belkin’s career spans three decades – at the New York Times Magazine, the Life’s Work column, and the Motherlode blog.  She is the author of four non-fiction books,   one of which was made into an HBO miniseries.

Buy your copy of her book from Bookshop.org (to support independent bookstores) or amazon.com.
