Guest Speaker – Rabbi Rafi Cohen serves as director of admissions for both The Rabbinical School and the H. L. Miller Cantorial School at the Jewish Theological Seminary, guiding prospective students in their discernment toward beginning lives of sacred service. Rabbi Cohen earned a BA from Brandeis University in Near Eastern & Judaic Studies while completing the Journalism Interdisciplinary Program, an MA from the William Davidson Graduate School of Jewish Education, and ordination from the Rabbinical School. Rafi has served as a congregational rabbi and in Jewish day school and Hillel roles, most recently as director of Jewish student life at City College of New York Hillel. As a rabbinical student not too long ago, Rafi was a Legacy Heritage Rabbinic Fellow at Sharay Torah in Canton, OH and the Resnick Intern at the Conservative Synagogue Adath Israel of Riverdale, which is home for Rafi, Michele and their two boys. Rafi is a student of Mussar having completed Mussar for Millenials training and recently completed the Cross Seminary Course in Community Organizing with JOIN for Justice.

What is Torah Fund?

Torah Fund is Women’s League for Conservative Judaism’s program to strengthen education by supporting scholarships at the following institutions:

  • Jewish Theological Seminary (New York)
  • Zeigler School of Rabbinic Studies (Los Angeles)
  • Schechter Institute of Jewish Studies (Jerusalem)
  • Seminario Rabinico Lainoamaricano (Buenos Aires)
  • Zacharias Frankel College (Germany)

Women’s League supports education for rabbis, cantors and educators to serve the Conservative Movement.
