Congregation Torat El Sisterhood
Sisterhood strives to bond Jewish women of all generations, provide services to our synagogue and its children, and to enrich the lives of those we touch. We organize fundraisers with the proceeds benefiting the temple. We also provide scholarships to USY students for summer programs, offer babysitting for the High Holy Days and welcome all new temple members with wine and challah.

Sisterhood Experiences
“When we first came to the temple it was during the Purim Carnival. We only knew one couple through mutual friends and they had invited us to come because we had young children at that time. They introduced us to what seemed like 100 people, but the best part was that every one of the people we had met came up to us the next time they saw us in services. They were kind and friendly and they have always been that way. Many of our best friendships have been made through Sisterhood, Men’s Club and the general congregation.”
“The first year I joined the temple I immediately joined Sisterhood. I had always heard that the Sisterhood was fun, informative and a great way to meet other Temple women. There are different programs that Sisterhood offers and there are many ways we can help make these programs successful and wonderful. Whether by running it or just working at it, you are always guaranteed to laugh.”
“Sisterhood always has something going on and members are able to pick and choose what they want to be a part of. I have met many wonderful ladies through Sisterhood and the programs. When I attend temple services, or pick up the kids from Hebrew School and see a Sisterhood lady, there is always that nice “sisterly” connection to say hello and chat with them for awhile.”
As a new member of the temple, your first year’s Sisterhood dues are waived. Sisterhood activities are very diverse—hoping to offer something for everyone. To become involved, or for more information, contact the temple office or email sisterhood@torat-el.org. We look forward to seeing you at upcoming events.
Congregation Torat El’s Sisterhood is a chapter of the Garden State Region of Women’s League for Conservative Judaism. The mission of Women’s League for Conservative Judaism is to strengthen and unite synagogue women’s groups, their members and individual members; support them in mutual efforts to understand and perpetuate Conservative/Masorti Judaism in the home, synagogue, and community; and reinforce their bonds with Israel and Jews worldwide.
