Tuesday Morning Torah – November 26, 2013

Before this morning’s message, I wanted to give a belated thank you to the Sisterhood for running a fantastic rummage sale last week! Also, a huge thank you to our Men’s club, Religious School, and Sisterhood for putting together a fantastic Hanukkah party this past Sunday. With nearly 300 people in attendance from our Torat El family, and the greater Monmouth County Jewish community- a great time was had by all! Check out our Congregation Torat El facebook page for some pictures.

With Thanksgivukkah nearly upon us, I wanted to share a few more videos and resources that you might find interesting as you get ready to light that first candle tomorrow night.

3. More on Thanksgivukkah, and the meaning behind it:

Thanksgivukkah 2
Coming Sooner Than You Think! Climate Change Coming Sooner!

Rabbi David Seidenberg

You may have heard the next Thanksgivukkah won’t come for 79,000 years. That’s not exactly right. In fact, this is just the one time for a very long while that the second night of Chanukkah will coincide with Thanksgiving. But the first night of Chanukkah will fall out on Thanksgiving in 2070, and then again in 2165. 2070 is soon enough that most Jews under 30 will be there to celebrate. That’s a long time, but it’s on a time scale similar to the Jubilee, which is every 50th year.   Click here to read the rest

  4.  A Thanksgiving Prayer for your Table, by Rabbi Naomi Levy

Enjoy! Hag Urim Sameach! Have a happy and joyous Hanukkah filled with light!
