Tuesday Morning Torah – March 5, 2013

Over the past few weeks I have noticed that my inbox has been filled with many things that we should be proud of as Conservative Jews. Yes we have our challenges, but there are also a number of wonderful programs, resources, and opportunities being offered from our movement. Here is a sampling.

1. For the latest and greatest of happenings in our movement both in the U.S. and Israel check out   CJ Online- the new digital version of Conservative Judaism magazine. I am delighted to see that this wonderful resource is now available online!

2. Do you know any young adults interested in learning how to study the basic texts of the Jewish tradition, improving their Hebrew language skills, or planning a career as Jewish professional? Have them check out   NISHMA, a summer of Torah Study at the Jewish Theological Seminary.

3. Did you know that among the many wonderful programs that are run out of Camp Ramah, there is a young adult leadership program designed to encourage teachers and youth leaders across the U.S. and Canada to bring the power and spirit of informal Jewish education into our synagogue classrooms and youth programs throughout the year? Check out the latest about the   Ramah Service Corps.

4. Are you an adult who is interested in learning more about Jewish life in Poland before and after WWII? Have you ever wanted to visit Poland? Since 1986, USY has taken thousands of teens to Poland on the Israel Pilgrimage/Poland Seminar and Eastern Europe/Israel Pilgrimage. Now, parents, alumni, and other interested adults have the opportunity to share in the unique experience of spending a week in Poland as well.

5. Last, but certainly not least, I am proud to share with you that Congregation Torat El is partnering with USY and hosting an “alternative spring break” over Passover as we host teens from all over the country who will be coming to help rebuild our Shore community in this first summer post Hurricane Sandy. Many more details to follow and there will be programs open to the community as well.   Click here for a brief description of the program and stay tuned for details!

Have a great week!!
