Tuesday Morning Torah – January 8, 2013

As a congregational Rabbi, I am continually looking for ways to learn more about Judaism. You might think that Rabbis spend a good deal of time each week studying- but the truth is that the multi-faceted and wonderful world of the pulpit can sometimes make it hard to find opportunities to sit down and study Torah Lishmah (for its own sake). While I often study for specific reasons ( to teach adults, children, or give a Dvar Torah), creating time for Torah lishmah can often be challenging.

That is why I was delighted to re-discover the following resource through one of my facebook connections this week- The JCast Network. In their own words-

The JCast Network is a provider of and portal for high-quality, diverse On-line Jewish content. This content will include original programming in addition to content provided by reviewed partner organizations. Through the use of cross-promotion and new-media technologies, the JCast Network will educate and inform the North American and global Jewish communities with compelling on-line Jewish content when and where they want it.

Simply put- this sight is amazing. It has tremendous opportunities for learning more about Judaism is a fun, engaging, and manageable way. From a daily dose of Torah, Jewish humor, Talmud, Hebrew, theology, Jewish thoughts on food, social justice, the environment, and much more- this site has it all!

Click here to check out the numerous blog posts, podcasts, and lecture series today. Download them to your smart phone, like them on facebook and take them with you as you go about your daily life. At some point during the week, take a few moments to learn something from this wonderful resource.

As our tradition wisely teaches- talmud torah k’neged kulam- the study of Torah is equal to all of the mitzvot combined. And trust me that some good Torah study in an engaging, exciting, and informative way- just might change your life!

As always, when you learn something- feel free to e-mail me your thoughts and remember that you can post your thoughts on our CTE facebook page so that we can all share in the learning!
